What Is the SAT?
The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized college admissions test taken by over 2 million students annually. It's required for some merit scholarships — especially National Merit — and accepted by all US colleges.

Why Our SAT Program Is Different
We treat SAT preparation as its own distinct program because the skills and strategies required for this exam are very different from regular coursework — and different from the ACT. Although both exams are written in English, the SAT "speaks" a different language than the ACT in how its questions are structured, worded, and timed. That's why our SAT program is built specifically around the SAT, not adapted from ACT materials.
Program Structure
- 8 hours of English Language Arts instruction (Reading & Writing module strategy), taught by a tutor who specializes in SAT verbal strategy
- 8 hours of Math instruction, taught by a separate tutor who specializes in SAT math strategy
- Two subject-specialist tutors, each focused entirely on their area of the exam
- Extensive work with actual SAT-style questions so students see exactly how specific skills and strategies apply to real exam problems
The Final Week Is What Sets Us Apart: Practice Testing + Individualized Error Correction
The most important part of the program happens during the final week. Students take a full-length practice exam, and then the appropriate tutor sits down with them individually to review every missed question, explain what went wrong, and identify the reasoning or strategy that needs to change.
Students then return the next day with the opportunity to correct those errors and apply what they learned — before repeating the cycle.
Why this matters: Many test prep programs offer practice exams, but practice alone isn't enough if a student keeps reinforcing the same mistakes. You can take practice test after practice test, but without someone helping you understand and correct your errors, you may simply become more practiced at making them. At Tutor of Dragons, we identify the mistake, correct the underlying thinking, and help students build better habits so they're less likely to repeat that error on test day.

SAT vs. ACT
